Dr Catherine Spencer-Taylor

Together with Jonathan and David, Catherine is a director of Greers Road Medical Centre. They began the practice in an old villa 1991 and eventually, needing more room, built a great new centre in 2010 in time to successfully navigate through all the earthquakes!
Catherine is married to Jan, a science teacher. She and her husband have three adult children, of whom they are very proud. One has pursued medicine and become a vet.
Catherine enjoys the variety of family medicine, from mental health issues to children’s health, dermoscopy (instrumental skin examination) and skin surgery. She particularly enjoys seeing babies coming through to adulthood, whilst still caring for their grandparents! She acknowledges it is a privilege to get to know so many people in her practice and be able to offer help with their overall health, becoming a part of their lives.
We often have a medical student and GP registrar whom Catherine is glad to mentor and teach, knowing that with the GP shortage, the next generation of doctors is hugely important.
Her faith in Jesus Christ directs her life and interests, which includes singing, Church life, learning at Laidlaw Bible College, biking the cycle ways and to work, gym, swimming, walking, travel and boating on the West Coast lakes (especially Kaniere) with her family and friends.
We have a wonderful team of receptionists, nurses, doctors, practice manager and counsellor, making Greers Road Medical a great place to work.
